Sierra's #1540 is a 6 mm (.243 in) 100 grain flat-base spitzer from the Pro-Hunter range, supplied 100 to a box. It has been in production since 1956.

A heavy, double-tapered jacket gives it enough penetration while still expanding reliably on medium game, so it suits large varmints as well as deer.

Key Features

  • Double-tapered jacket – A heavy jacket balances penetration with reliable expansion on medium game.
  • Large varmints to deer – Suits bigger varmints as well as deer- and antelope-sized game.
  • Flat-base accuracy – The flat base can improve accuracy in some rifles.
  • Handgun target use – Delivers accuracy and downrange momentum for long-range handgun target and silhouette shooting.
