The .32 ACP, or 7.65mm Browning, was John Browning's first successful pistol cartridge, introduced in 1899 for the FN Model 1900. A 71 grain projectile at about 900 fps made it the dominant European pocket-pistol and police round for half a century, chambered in Walther, Mauser, Beretta and dozens of others.
In Australia it is a collector's cartridge. The small pistols built for it rarely meet the barrel length and dimensional minimums that most states apply to Category H sport pistols, so the majority of .32 ACP handguns are held on collector's licences rather than shot in competition. A small number of full-size target pistols exist in the calibre and are eligible where they meet the standard.
It is semi-rimmed and uses a .312 projectile, so components do not cross over with 9mm or .380. Do not confuse it with .32 S&W Long, the revolver cartridge used in ISSF centrefire competition, or 7.65x21mm Parabellum. Factory ammunition is available from Sellier & Bellot, Fiocchi and others but usually needs ordering.
We can source .32 ACP ammunition and reloading dies to order and assist collectors with paperwork and compliant storage. Handguns are shipped Australia-wide to your nominated dealer.
