Buying .300 RUM Ammunition in Australia

Magnum Sports lists 13 loads in the .300 Remington Ultra Magnum family, with 8 available today. Hornady, Remington, Barnes, Federal and Norma are represented, and one Hornady line is the shorter .300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag, so check the headstamp matches your rifle. The .300 RUM is a large-case magnum built for long-range shooting, used in Australia on large deer at distance and for long-range target work.

Ammunition in NSW may only be sold to a person holding a licence or permit for a firearm of that calibre, which for the .300 RUM is a Category B rifle; Magnum Sports sights the licence at the counter. All ammunition is collection only from the store at Roseville Chase and is never posted or couriered. Order online to have it put aside.

Prices sit in a narrow band: Remington Core-Lokt starts at about $185, the typical load is around $208, and Barnes TTSX tops the range at $218.

      Common questions

Do I need a licence to buy .300 RUM ammunition?
Yes. We can only sell it to a person holding a licence or permit for a firearm in that calibre, and we sight the licence at the counter.
Is .300 RUM the same as .300 RSAUM?
No. The .300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag is a shorter cartridge, and one Hornady load in this collection is RSAUM, so match the box to the chambering stamped on your rifle.
How much is .300 RUM ammunition?
Full-length .300 RUM loads run from about $182 to $218 a box, with most around $208.
Can you post .300 RUM ammunition?
No. All ammunition is collection only from our Roseville Chase store and is never posted or couriered.
