Dan and Margie Hamilton started with a Wild Birds Unlimited store in 1986, selling binoculars to birdwatchers, and put the Vortex brand on the market in 2002. The company is still run out of Barneveld, Wisconsin and is employee-owned. The AMG line is American-built — that is what the name stands for — while the rest of the range is made to Vortex's specification offshore, which is how a Crossfire HD lands at the price it does.
The riflescope range is tiered clearly, which makes it easy to match to a budget. Triumph HD and Crossfire HD cover first scopes and knockabout hunting rifles. Diamondback steps up the glass and adds tactical turret options. Viper and Venom are the working middle — the Viper PST Gen II and Venom 5-25x56 turn up on a lot of Australian precision rifles. Razor HD is the top of the line, with the Gen III 4-24x44 and 6-36x56 built for PRS and long-range work, and the LHT models for hunters who want Razor glass without the weight. Strike Eagle sits alongside all of it as the low-power variable for fast, close work.
Beyond scopes there are Venom, Viper and Defender red dots, Spitfire prism sights, the AMG UH-1 holographic, Razor UHD and Viper HD binoculars, Razor and Viper spotting scopes, Ranger, Impact and Fury rangefinders, and the Radian, Summit and High Country tripods — plus the rings, cantilever mounts and bubble levels to put it all together.
The VIP warranty is the reason a lot of our customers keep coming back to Vortex. It is unlimited, unconditional and fully transferable — it does not matter how the damage happened or whether you were the one who bought it, and there is no receipt or registration to produce. In Australia it is handled through the local distributor, so you cover the postage to send it in and nothing else. Electronics and thermal carry their own terms, so ask us before you assume.
We stock Vortex across the range and can order anything in the Australian catalogue. Bring the rifle in and we will match the scope to it, supply the right rings or rail, and mount and bore-sight it before it leaves the shop.
