Buying 6mm ARC Ammunition in Australia

Magnum Sports lists 5 loads of 6mm ARC, and 4 are available today, all from Hornady: the 105gr BTHP Match Black, 108gr ELD Match, 80gr ELD-VT and 103gr ELD-X Precision Hunter. A Barnes 90gr TAC-TX load is also listed. The 6mm ARC was developed by Hornady as a compact, efficient 6mm cartridge; in Australia it is used in bolt-action rifles for target shooting and for foxes, goats and smaller deer.

You can only buy 6mm ARC ammunition from a NSW dealer if you hold a licence or permit for a firearm in that calibre, and Magnum Sports sights the licence at the counter. Ammunition is picked up from our Roseville Chase store only and never posted or couriered; ordering online reserves it for you.

All four in-stock Hornady loads are $75 a box. The Barnes 90gr TAC-TX is listed at $155.

For paper and steel targets, the Hornady 108gr ELD Match and 105gr BTHP Match are the precision loads. For foxes and small game, use the 80gr ELD-VT; for goats and deer, the 103gr ELD-X Precision Hunter. Since all four are the same price, it is easy to buy a box of a match load and a box of a hunting load and compare.
