Buying .25 Air Rifles in Australia

Magnum Sports lists 68 air rifles in .25 calibre, with 18 available to order today. FX Airguns makes up more than half the range, alongside Airmaks Arms, Airgun Technology, Evanix, Skout Airguns, Kalibrgun, RTI Arms, Diana and Walther. The .25 is the heavier of the popular pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) pellet calibres and is chosen by Australian shooters for rabbit and pest-bird control where a .177 or .22 pellet lacks weight.

In NSW an air rifle is a Category A firearm. You need a current licence covering Category A plus a Permit to Acquire (PTA) for each firearm. Since 1 July 2026 a PTA is only issued once the applicant shows they meet the safe-storage requirements, and new and renewed licences run for a maximum of two years. Pellets are treated like any other ammunition: Magnum Sports sells them only to licence holders and they are collection only from the Roseville Chase store.

Prices start at $1,506 for the FX Airguns Dreamline Classic. A typical .25 PCP here costs around $2,800, and the top in-stock rifle is the FX Airguns DRS MDT Pro at $5,680.

Prices$1,506–$5,680, with most .25 air rifles around $2,000–$3,500.
Availability18 of the 68 listed .25 air rifles are available today; the others are special order, so contact the store about supply.

For a straightforward hunting PCP, the FX Dreamline Classic or Diana XR200 PCP keep cost under $2,000. The FX Panthera Hunter and RTI Arms P-3 Performance step up in power and adjustability, while the FX Impact M4 Sniper and FX King GRS models suit shooters who want regulated consistency for longer shots. The FX DRS MDT Pro is the chassis option for precision work.

Common questions

Do I need a licence for a .25 air rifle in NSW?

Yes. Air rifles are Category A firearms in NSW, so you need a licence covering Category A and a Permit to Acquire for each rifle.

Is .25 better than .22 for rabbits?

The .25 throws a heavier pellet, which many hunters prefer for cleaner results on rabbits at longer range. The trade-off is more air used per shot, so fewer shots per fill.

Which .25 air rifles are in stock?

18 are available today, mostly FX Airguns models such as the Dreamline, DRS, Panthera, Impact M4 and King GRS, plus the Diana XR200 PCP, Evanix Air Speed and RTI Arms P-3 Performance.

Can I buy a .25 air rifle from interstate?

Yes. Air rifles are transferred dealer to dealer, so order online and nominate a licensed dealer in your state to receive it.
