sierra-2240-30-220gr-hollow-point-bo-at-tail
Sierra 2240 .30 220gr Hollow Point Boat Tail

A hollow point boat tail for the 308 Win, 30-06 and other 30 calibre cartridges, the 220 grain Sierra MatchKing #2240 is aimed at the target shooter and reloader who wants repeatable groups rather than a hunting bullet. At 220 grains the #2240 is the traditional heavyweight for the 300 magnums at 1000 yards; it is a long bullet and needs a fast enough twist to stabilise.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. Sierra specifies a barrel twist of 1:10 in or faster for this bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets.

Specifications

Brand: Sierra Bullets

Sierra product number: 2240

Product line: MatchKing

Bullet type: Hollow Point Boat Tail (HPBT)

Diameter: 0.308 in

Weight: 220 grains

G1 ballistic coefficient: 0.629

G7 ballistic coefficient: 0.313

Material: Jacketed lead core

Minimum twist: 1:10 in or faster

Box quantity: 100
