sierra-1983c-7mm-183gr-hpbt-500
Sierra 1983C 7mm 183gr HPBT (500)

A closed-nose hollow point boat tail for the 7mm-08, 7x57 and 7mm magnums, the 183 grain Sierra MatchKing #1983 is aimed at the target shooter and reloader who wants repeatable groups rather than a hunting bullet. The 183 grain #1983 sits between the 180 and 197 grain 7mm MatchKings and uses the same long 27-calibre ogive and pointed meplat, with the bearing-surface junction cut at 1.5 degrees to match common match chamber throats.

MatchKing jackets are drawn thin and held to very tight concentricity, with a small hollow point meplat that keeps weight and balance consistent from bullet to bullet. The closed-nose (CN) versions get a final pointing operation that closes the meplat for a higher ballistic coefficient than the standard open tip. Sierra specifies a barrel twist of 1:8 in or faster for this bullet. They are a target design: Sierra does not recommend MatchKings for most hunting, and on varmints they will not open as reliably as the lighter-jacketed VarmintKing and BlitzKing bullets. Sierra introduced this bullet in 2015.

Specifications

Brand: Sierra Bullets

Sierra product number: 1983C

Product line: MatchKing

Bullet type: Hollow Point Boat Tail - Closed Nose (HPBT-CN)

Diameter: 0.284 in

Weight: 183 grains

G1 ballistic coefficient: 0.707

G7 ballistic coefficient: 0.351

Material: Jacketed lead core

Minimum twist: 1:8 in or faster

Box quantity: 500
